SMARTAQUA Legacy Guaranteed
The SMARTAQUA team will be participating in three projects that will utilise SMARTAQUA research to guarantee the project’s legacy and impact beyond the project lifecyle:
- Cure4Aqua: Curing EU aquaculture by co-creating health and welfare innovations, is a €6.2million Horizon Europe-funded project that will build upon SMARTAQUA’s welfare monitoring research to improve aquatic animal health and welfare.
- IGNITION: Improving GreeN Innovation for the blue revoluTION: new tools and opportunities for a more sustainable animal farming, is a €9million, Horizon Europe-funded project that will build upon SMARTAQUA’s welfare monitoring research to unveil new knowledge regarding animal welfare in the context of climate change and propose new tools to mitigate the adverse effects of stress.
- CLEANGAIN: Improved welfare and delousing efficacy of farmed cleaner fish, is a £393,593 project funded by the Sustainable Aquatic Innovation Centre (SAIC). The project will build upon SMARTAQUA’s research on lumpfish to facilitate their full potential as a sustainable biological sea lice control strategy. This project will have a high impact on salmon farming sector, improving the ethical credentials and reducing the economic cost of cleaner fish as an effective sea lice management strategy.
